MERRIMACK, NH [September 7, 2023]

Plastics Forming Enterprises (PFE) announces their ISO 17025 accreditation as an independent third – party laboratory that provides testing services for new, and post-consumer packaging for plastics recycling compatibility. With the ISO 17025 accreditation, PFE’s laboratory is able to demonstrate that they operate competently and generate valid results as stated on the ISO website under 17025 standards ISO – ISO/IEC 17025 — Testing and calibration laboratories.

PFE has been servicing the plastics recycling industry, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024. As PFE developed and grew with the industry through these years, ISO accreditation became important to support the industry and their large leading companies’ expectations. With the team efforts led by Kathryn Goodale as Quality Assurance Manager and Matthew Levesque as Technical Director, PFE achieved this accreditation in a small timeframe.

PFE performs a significant amount of testing to the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR) protocol recognition testing as well as RecyClass protocols. “APR commends PFE on achieving ISO 17025 accreditation. “This accomplishment demonstrates to PFE’s clients, regulatory authorities, and APR that they operate at a high level of competence, further emphasizing PFE’s credibility and trustworthiness” said Scott Trenor, Technical Director of the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR).

“PFE has a long-standing commitment in supporting the plastic industry in assessing and improving recyclability of plastic packaging – which has been emphasized through their continued collaboration with the Association of Plastics Recyclers and RecyClass. Their recently obtained ISO 17025 accreditation serves as a testament to this commitment and the investment efforts they made toward accelerating the transition toward a plastic future.” Said Fabrizio Di Gregorio, Technical Director of Plastics Recyclers Europe and the responsible for RecyClass.

PFE saw value in the upgraded accreditation to spotlight PFE as the leading plastics recycling consulting and testing laboratory. “I couldn’t be prouder of our team and the accomplishment they have completed. This success is something they worked so hard to achieve and only adds to our long-standing portfolio” – Said Kristi Hansen, President of PFE.

PFE will strive to hold this accreditation, as this is a high standard to represent credibility and competency in meeting industry standards. In partnership with ANAB, PFE appreciated the guidance and leadership provided to not only achieve ISO 17025 accreditation but to understand the value and the importance of what this accreditation represents.
